2.0 out of 5 stars Review of National Presto Pressure Indicator & Regulator, July 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
Although this pressure regulator is the correct replacement per National Presto, it is NOT the one pictured (the original one that came with the pressure cooker) and a replacement can be purchased less expensive elsewhere.

Presto 05450 DualDaddy Electric Deep Fryer

Product Description

Fry two different foods at once without intermingling. Large capacity up to 8 servings. Snap on cover lets you store oil in fryer. Removable divider for cooking large pieces of fish. Thermostat automatically keeps oil at the perfect frying temperature. 1500 watts

Amazon.com Review

In the homespun days, food was usually fried in a big cast-iron metal pot. But modern times demand simpler solutions. The Presto DualDaddy electric deep fryer fits on a countertop and is so easy to use. Just add oil, plug it in, and in 15 minutes it's heated up and ready to fry. Its sleek, elliptical black bucket shape matches form to function-- simple and classic.

The DualDaddy holds up to eight cups of oil or four pounds of shortening, and it can handle up to eight servings of food at a time, as well as being large enough to accommodate larger pieces of meat or fish. With the divider in, two kinds of food can be frying at the same time with no intermingling of flavors. The internal thermostat keeps the oil at the optimum frying temperature. An accompanying scoop, slotted for draining, is for lifting food in and out or for turning food halfway through the cooking time. The power cord has a magnetic safety connection, so that if the unit is jostled during cooking, the cord will disconnect, shutting power off immediately. After straining the used oil, it can be poured back into the unit and stored, covered by the accompanying snap-on plastic lid.

After frying, unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before attempting to empty oil. Wash the DualDaddy with warm, sudsy water and dry it thoroughly; it is not immersible. To preserve the nonstick finish, inside and out, do not use steel wool or harsh, abrasive cleansers. The Presto DualDaddy measures 9 by 14 by 8-1/2 inches (including handles). Presto guarantees this product with a one-year limited warranty. A simple instruction and recipe sheet is enclosed. --Garland Withers

We bought this deep fryer around 3 years ago and it is still working great! We received a fancier deep fryer for a gift, but the fancy one never seems to get hot enough. This deep fryer has never given us any problems.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Fryer!, September 29, 2006
This review is from: Presto 05450 DualDaddy Electric Deep Fryer (Kitchen)
I recently purchased the DualDaddy fryer. I have had several different fryers in the past. I started about ten or so years ago with the original GranDaddy. It was alright, but I wanted to be able to fry more, and had seen the newer fryers that had covers while you were frying. I bought one, and it was great for frying, and the cover kept the spattering to a minimum. However, it was very pricey, and a major job to clean. If I'm going to take the time to clean something, I want it very clean. With the big ones, you have to really take it all apart to get it good and clean. The day before I bought the DualDaddy, I spent over an hour trying to get the old one clean, and finally gave up and threw it out. I really like the DualDaddy. It is a great size, and very simple to clean. In about fifteen minutes I can drain the oil, wash the fryer and refill. I bought one of those fine screen mesh spatter guards that you put over skillets for a dollar and it works great on top of the... Read more

As a former owner of a Presto Fry Daddy, and Grandaddy I expected more of the same high quality and got it! Not only is this the largest one to date, but the fastest. The oil is up to full temperature a full 2 or 3 minutes quicker then the other two, about 10 minutes total. Does a great job of cooking, just try not to overload it or it`ll foam over! Great quality and price, a best buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product Lousy Retailer, January 6, 2009
This review is from: Presto 06850 16-inch Electric Skillet (Kitchen)
This is our second skillet like this. The first lasted for years before the finish started coming off of the interior so we decided to buy another just like it. The skillet cooks evenly and the heat is easy to control. We purchased through Amazon and J&R Music was the retailer who actually got the order. J&R ships items in the original manufacturers box wrapped only in plastic for protection. The first unit was damaged during shipment and that is when the nightmare began. It was supposed to have been a Christmas gift for my wife and I made that clear when I reported the damage back in early December. They drug their feet making promises of second day delivery and better packaging on the replacement. Bottom line we didn't receive the replacement until December 29th. It wasn't shipped second day as promised, it didn't make it in time for Christmas as promised and once again the box arrived damaged because they only wrapped it in plastic again. Buy the skillet but avoid J&R. Those people... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Love It!!!, August 4, 2006
This review is from: Presto 06850 16-inch Electric Skillet (Kitchen)
I have had my mod# 06850 for about six weeks now and I really like it. I had a GE before this but the non-stick coating just wore out in 4 years of use. That old GE skillet taught me to be very careful with the coating and now I always use soft tools and no scouring of the pan (no need). If the pan gets really dirty soak it, never use scotch brite (green abrasive fuss) type sponge pads. I use the Presto on a daily basis and just love the very small amount of oil needed (NEVER heat non-stick dry) to cook things like eggs. Before getting this pan I tried another GE but the coating has been changed to an anodized aluminum type that is not worth a damn. This is the one for me, but don't scratch it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, February 12, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Presto 06850 16-inch Electric Skillet (Kitchen)
I was looking for an electric skillet that could accomidate 2 cut-up frying chickins and easy to clean. Well, this skillet is a little to delicate for my liking. It fries up that much chicken or 4 halibut steaks just fine, but I accidently made a hairline scratch on the coated cooking surface and it was never the same. With each use and washing that scratch got wider and longer until small patches of the coating began coming off and exposeing the bare metal beneath, and of course any food coming into contact with that would stick. The disintegration of the surface continued no matter how carefully I washed it until I just threw it away. I should add that the electric cord is only about 2 feet in lenght! So you must cook right next to an outlet. I prefer a hardier piece of equipment not something I have to pamper.
